About Judy Broumley Photo-Art
Hi, I’m Judy
Hello, I’m Judy Broumley and I love surrounding myself in nature whether in big panoramas of beauty or small, intimate moments among wildflowers. Viewing the birds, trees, rivers, hills, and wildlife uplifts my soul. Immersing myself in the splendor of nature gives me feelings of gratitude and wonder. I would like for you to feel this way, too. When I capture a moment in time with the camera lens it is not just for me, but for you. It brings me great delight to ‘share my joys with you.’
When I semi-retired I was able to join my husband, Roy, and our dog, Gizmo, on their daily walks along the Snake River near Asotin, WA. Awed by the scenic beauty, I starting snapping photos with my phone. I posted them on Instagram with the hash tag, #onmywalktoday. Soon I found I was collecting stunning landscape and nature photos as the seasons changed from Spring to Winter. The beauty was not only therapeutic for me, but inspiring to those who viewed them. I realized that not everyone has the access or opportunity to be out in nature and experience the surprise and pleasure of coming upon a Great Horned Owl, river otters, or to see the cliff swallows swoop and dive in flight. I realized I could capture these magical moments and share them with others to inspire and enchant.
When I began jet boating up the Snake River with Roy, I snapped photos of the exquisite beauty we discovered. I could see that the river, the wildlife, and the land are precious. To preserve nature, we must love it. Through sharing my photos, I hope to inspire others to love this great gift of land & river we all share.
Living at the gateway to Hells Canyon gives me the unique opportunity to photographically record the happenings in our area. We are the first to see the Osprey return to mate and nest, and the swooping cliff swallows return, we see the goslings take their first swim, and we hear the Great Blue Heron call out as it flies across the river. Many times, I am fortunate to capture these magnificent moments. I may be the first to come upon a wildflower in bloom, or the cacti spreading their yearly petals, or I may see fresh rain droplets on a leaf. These instances are cemented in time by the snap of a photo and will live on for others to view and enjoy.
I see beauty everywhere in the big and in the very small, but my deepest satisfaction comes from the beauty of nature. I feel the outdoors and wildlife are a treasure for us to discover and enjoy. A divine presence has created all of it, and as we study we learn how intricate and delicate every creation is that exists. I feel that capturing the majesty of nature is a form of sharing love. Feeling gratitude and love towards nature raises our energy vibration and makes us feel good. Nature captures the essence of divine love.
As a novice nature photographer, I hope to grow in my craft and discover ways to bring my photos into the hearts of those who love and appreciate beautiful landscapes and nature’s wonders. I would love to have my images in homes, offices, as greeting cards, and other forms of art. For, 'Sharing my Joys with You!' brings me such happiness!

Although we have both Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras with zoom lenses, when I am out for my daily walk, I snap photos using my Google Pixel 8 Pro mobile phone. I find it takes clear photos and is much easier to pull out for a quick landscape or nature shot. I especially enjoy the variety of editing options that allow my photos to pop.

I am fortunate to live in an area that is surrounded by nature. It is easy for me to travel 30 minutes in any direction and be among some of the most beautiful and stunning geography in the region. My husband, Roy, has a jet boat so we can travel into Hells Canyon and explore the wild & scenic Snake River corridor. I find beauty everywhere. When I am fortunate to visit my son who lives in Madison, WI, I love capturing the beauty of the mid-west, too. Other locations to capture nature are botanical gardens, local and national parks, forests, lakes, rivers, and the ocean.

I am always very careful when I snap photos to not endanger the land or animal and plant life. I do not disturb the area when I photograph and I am very respectful when I encounter wildlife and never threaten them in any way.

When I capture the birds or animals in my photos it is almost always by good fortune that I happen upon them on our walk. I never intentionally set up a photo shoot, all my animal and bird photos are purely serendipity. I will say that trying to photograph birds is the hardest and most difficult thing for me to do. By the time I get myself set and focused, the birds have flown away!

Luckily, where I walk it is naturally exquisitely beautiful. I will stop and take a picture when I see something that takes my breath away or if I want to capture a moment in time that I know I will never see again. I try to find a focal point and then add interest with color and an interesting foreground.

We almost always take our daily walk because we need to walk Gizmo, our dog. He has come to expect it and it is the highlight of his day. So, no matter the weather we trudge along in rain, wind, heat, and all seasons. I have found that even in the misty winter mornings I will find breathtaking images. Rain is particularly challenging because I need to protect the camera lens from getting spottled with rain drops so I snap a quick photo and cover the lens.

I consider myself a novice. Years ago, I took a beginning digital photography class which gave me inspiration. Recently I have taken an on-line photo course through Udemy by Charles Borland. As I have snapped photos over time, my style has improved. My big break out moment came when Discover Northwest bought post cards I designed for use in the US Forest Service boat check point at Cache Creek in Hells Canyon.

This is something I may consider in the future, but I have nothing organized at this time. I would like to offer a photo tour and a possible jet boat trip up Hells Canyon.
